How to Use Quizzes to Grow Your Mailing List & Generate Leads

You’re no stranger to online quizzes. If you’re on social media, you’ve seen quizzes that you and your friends have taken. From, which Game of Thrones Character you are to what personality type you are.

These quizzes are fun and extremely popular but have you considered using one to grow your mailing list for your business?

I’ve partnered with Interact, the BEST online quiz creator out there, to create all of my online quizzes and I wanted to share how it easy it is to create a winning quiz that will grow your mailing list and generate leads for your business.

1. What to make a quiz about

Before you do anything, you need a subject to create your quiz on.  Think about questions that would interest YOUR audience. What kinds of questions are they asking online? Two great tools to help you discover content to base your questions on are BuzzSumo and Google AdWords.

2. Set up Your Account

Click here to set up your account or visit the TryInteract website.

3. Choose Template Or From Scratch

When you’re signed up, you’ll be able to create your quiz. You have the option to choose from pre-made templates related to your topic or to build your own from scratch. I use the template options because they have a ton! Also, each template is fully customizable to you and your business.

4. Select A Topic

When you previously selected the option to use pre-made templates, Interact shows you the ones related to your niche or topic. They offer 22 topics and are constantly adding more so you should have no trouble finding one or a few that fit the bill. Bonus, you don’t have to choose just one, you can choose as many as you like. For this example, I chose “Marketing”.

If for some reason though you don’t see what you’re looking for, you can always suggest ideas to the Interact team.

5. Type Of Quiz

When using Interact, you’re able to choose what type of quiz you’d like to build. Assessment, Personality or Scored. Take a look below to see the specific descriptions. They are all great choices, but personally, I think my target audience respond better to Personality quizzes.

6. Select Template

Interact conveniently sorts the quiz templates by their conversion rates. Which is awesome, but always make sure whatever template you choose, relates to your business and your ideal customers and clients.  I went with “What Is Your Brand Voice Style”.

7. Start putting together your quiz!

The template is there to make it easy for you to create your quiz, but remember to customize the questions and even the photo provided to suit your business and your ultimate goal of creating the quiz. Again, Interact makes things easy by provided access to royalty free images from Pexels or upload your own photo like I did.

8. Results

Next, create your results. When someone finishes your quiz, their results will pop up. Making sure that your results fit your questions should be your number one priority.

9. Create Correlations

Now it is time to link the answers to the results. What happens when a person clicks on one point and what effect will it have on the result? Here is an example of my correlations. As you can see, you’re able to connect multiple points to the same result. Looks a little confusing but it is pretty easy.

10. Integrate Email

Last but not least you connect your Interact account to your email provider, choose what emails your subscriber gets and there you go! You did it! First quiz complete. Now, promote the heck out of it and watch your list grow my friends!
